Metro Show 2026
2026 Metro Carving Show Invitation
The Tradition Continues!
The 44th Metro Carvers of Michigan Wood Carving Show will be held at the Packard Proving Grounds Historic Site in Macomb County located at 49965 Van Dyke Ave, Shelby Township, Michigan 48317. The site is between 22 and 23 Mile Roads on the west side of the street.
The Show will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 and on Sunday, March 29, 2026. This historic site is maintained by a non-profit foundation that is well supported by the community. We expect in excess of 600 attendees. The Show will be open to visitors on Saturday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Sunday 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Exhibitors may enter at 7:00 AM on Saturday and 10:00 AM on Sunday, Show participants (Both vendors and carvers) must leave the site by 5:00 PM on both days. Overnight security for the hall is provided by the Building Security System.
The Metro Carvers of Michigan is pleased to invite any carvers or vendors who would like to participate in our show to join us by submitting an Application no later than February 15, 2026. Vendors and carver tables will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Your completed application with accompanying payment is the only method of application. While I am happy to answer any questions that anyone may have, phones calls will NOT reserve your space.
All tables will be 8 feet long by approximately 30 inches wide. Each applicant will be required to supply their own table covering with the front draping to near the floor. (An 8 foot by 5 foot cloth or plastic cover will suffice.). This hall will accommodate 69 total tables.
Space behind each vendor or carver table is limited, so all supplies must be on or under your table with only two (2) chairs behind each table in the show hall. For larger groups, a Show Annex located across a paved court yard will have 5 foot round tables with chairs for gatherings and lunch
customers. Food truck(s) will be in the court yard both Saturday and Sunday.
The Annex will also be used for Carving and Turning Demonstrations on both days. Please call if you would like to provide a demonstration.
Carving Competition at the show will occur on four levels:
- Competition Category Ribbons: A panel of three paid judges with award ribbons to winners in each of the Competition Categories 1 - 34 defined in the Competition Rules. (Awarded mid-day Saturday)
- Best of Show: The judges will then gather the first place (blue ribbon) carvings from Categories 5 - 34 to determine the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Best of Show Plaques. (Awarded mid-day Saturday)
- People’s Choice Awards: Each show visitor will be provided with a special ballot upon entry to vote for their favorite carving from a Special Display. Every table carver may select one of their carvings to display for People’s Choice. Any carving entered into competition can be placed into People’s Choice but may not be returned before early visitors leave. 1st and 2nd Place Plaques will be awarded. (Awarded Sunday about 2:00 PM)
- Carver’s Choice Awards: On Sunday each participating carver will be given a unique ballot to select their Carver’s Choice from the People’s Choice Display. 1st and 2nd Place Plaques will be awarded. (Awarded Sunday about 2:00 PM.)
